Background
Seniesa Estrada compiled an impressive record of 97-4 during her amateur career in a period where she became the Junior Olympic champion twice, and and a USA National champion once. Estrada made her pro debut in May of 2011, a month before turning nineteen.
Accomplishments
Seniesa Estrada became one of the most notable fighers in the women’s division lower weight classes, staying unbeaten while challenging herself against the best available. Though she started off fairly obscure, fighting opponents that did not yet have the rankings to generate any noticeable buzz, by 2018 Estrada was ready to face a former world champion in Sonia Osorio who she beat easily by way of unanimous decision.
After two more fights in 2018 as a Junior Flyweight competitor, Estrada faced fellow contender Debora Rengifo for a shot at the vacant mid-tier WBC Silver title in November of the same year. The match proved to be a sign of things to come as she stopped Rengifo in the fourth. Continuing her form, Estrada eat another viable potential world title challenger in Yenifer Leon who she dispatched similarly as Rengifo, nabbing herself another stoppage victory in the process.
Her first chance for a world title came when she defeated Marlen Esparza for the vacant WBA interim belt at Flyweight in 2019.
After a tumultuous period created by COVID pandemic, Estrada only had a single fight in 2020. In 2021 she received the opportunity to fight for the WBA Minimumweight title, which she won after confidently beating her opponent Anabel Ortiz – who was then the incumbent WBA Minimumweight champion. Now a full-fledged world champion for the first time, Estrada briefly moved up a division to face Tenkai Tsunami for her WBO Junior Flyweight world title – also in 2021, the latter of who was subsequently defeated, losing her title in the process to Estrada.
That same year in 2021, Estrada defended her WBA Minimumweight world belt for the first time, decisively knocking out her opponent – Maria Micheo Santizo – out in the fourth round to seal her 22nd career victory.
In November of 2022, she then dominated Jazmin Villarino by UD in the first defense of her WBA world title.
On March 23rd of 2023, Estrada became a unified champion for the first time of her career at Minimumweight after defeating former WBC champion, Tina Rupprecht, by unanimous decision.
Estrada’s last match in 2023 was a title(s) defense against Argentinian contender Leonela Paola Yudica who she went on to defeat by UD on July 28th.
Boxing Style
Though she tends to fight orthodox, Seniesa Estrada has proved to be able to fight as a southpaw in some of her fights and can be considered to be a stance-switcher in that sense. Due to her well-accomplished amateur career, she has developed the a wide variety of skills and can adapt competently to her opponent in the ring.
Her most dangerous weapon tends to be her left hand, but she’s also capable of unleashing vicious combinations that have proven to be very difficult to defend against. She seems to have elite-level footwork and is therefore capable of being an offensive threat and a defensive wall.
