Eddie Hearn, the renowned boxing promoter and CEO of Matchroom Boxing, recently revealed that Anthony Joshua could fight Tyson Fury in the summer of 2023 if Fury’s heavyweight unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk fails to materialize, and Joshua defeats Jermaine Franklin. Hearn also stated that Joshua is willing to face any opponent, including Deontay Wilder.

The highly anticipated fight between Fury (33-0-1, 24 KO’s) and Usyk (20-0, 13 KO’s) is currently being negotiated, and it would unify the heavyweight division for the first time since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999. However, Hearn has stated that he is unsure whether the fight will go ahead as planned, and that Usyk may end up fighting Fury next.

Oleksandr Usyk beat Anthony Joshua (24-3, 22 KO’s) in their rematch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last August on a split decision, after winning their previous encounter by a unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2020. Joshua, on the other hand, is set to return to the ring against Jermaine Franklin (21-1, 14 KO’s) on April 1st.

Hearn’s comments have generated considerable interest among boxing fans, who have been eagerly waiting for a fight between Joshua and Fury for several years. If the bout does go ahead, it is likely to be one of the biggest fights in the history of British boxing.

While Hearn’s comments suggest that a fight between Joshua and Fury may be on the cards, there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the heavyweight division’s future. Boxing fans will be hoping that the Fury-Usyk fight goes ahead as planned, but if it does not, Joshua and Fury may finally have the opportunity to settle their long-standing rivalry.
