Former multi-division world champion, Adrien Broner, woke up fans on Sunday morning with shocking news; he is set to leave BLK Prime. In footage he recorded while filming himself on February 26, the “About Billions” fighter revealed some discontentment with BLK Prime’s handling of his matchmaking.

All three of Adrien Broner’s (34-4-1, 24 KO’s) opponents who were set to face him were withdrawn from their bouts with Broner due to personal circumstances. Ivan Redkach, Broner’s first slated opponent, was pulled from the fight after BLK Prime signed another deal with his promoter, Joe DeGuardia, which had DeGuardia’s own promotion – Star Boxing – earn as much as 50% of Redkach’s earnings. Though BLK Prime claimed the “circumstances were out of their control”, they were clearly liable for questionably getting in bed with Redkach’s promoter without his knowledge. Though they later sought to rectify this, it is unmistakeable that they ‘erred’ when it came to Broner’s first opponent.

Henry “Hank” Lundy, Broner’s second opponent, was also pulled due to circumstances that BLK Prime seemed to overlook. Somehow, though Lundy was scheduled to fight another opponent, he seemed to be content with breaching his contract in order to pursue a bigger payday with Broner. BLK Prime took no responsibility for not doing the necessary research and work to see whether Lundy was scheduled to face another opponent.

The pulling out of Broner’s third opponent, Michael Williams Jr., does seem to have been out of BLK Prime’s hands as he suffered an unfortunate injury a week or two before the fight with Broner, but as has been substantiated by Roy Jones Jr. in his last interview, Williams Jr. did not seem to up to task to face Broner.

In the video he put out, Adrien Broner was quick not to blame BLK Prime – who had signed him to a three-fight deal reportedly worth as much as eight figures – for his decision.

Me and BLK Prime have decided to part ways.” Broner said while filming himself. “There is no bad blood. They just couldn’t deliver everything I needed at this point of my career.

Right now I’m in tip-top shape. I got myself in shape. I dropped all my vices; I’m not clubbing, I’m not drinking.”

Adrien Broner has previously shared his struggles in being out of the ring and described how he had to move past his alcoholism to eventually force himself to make a vital change in his life and attempt to get back into boxing. With his deal with BLK Prime – which was announced back in October of 2022, Broner was hoped to breathe new life into his career and seemed hopeful of a second wind that could reignite the buzz he had stirred in boxing when he was at his peak.

Despite the mutual termination of his contract with BLK Prime, Broner still seems set to fight as soon as he can.

I’m ready to fight, so hit me up man.” Broner declared to any promoter or fighter interested in arranging a fight with him. “Hit me up! AB’s a free agent. Let’s do this! Like I said, I’m ready to fight today. Anybody, anybody can get it. The can man is back!
