The scheduled December 2 bout between Ohara Davies and Ismael Barroso for the vacant WBA interim super lightweight title has been removed from the Garcia-Duarte fight card due to Visa issues, as confirmed by Golden Boy CEO and founder Oscar De La Hoya. Their title fight will be rescheduled for a later date while the event, headlined by Ryan Garcia and Oscar Duarte, will proceed as planned.

Despite Oscar De La Hoya releasing the news, no additional details surrounding the matter have been provided, and it remains unknown which fighter was facing Visa issues. Nevertheless, the 140 lbs title bout between Ohara Davies (25-2, 18 KO’s) and Ismael Barroso (24-4-2, 22 KO’s) has been definitively removed from the December 2 card and is now set to take place on a new date, possibly at a new venue.

“Due to Visa delays, the fight between Ohara Davies and Ismael Barroso scheduled for this Saturday, December 2, will be postponed to a later date,” De La Hoya posted on Twitter. “More information will be made available in the coming weeks.”

As the fight was intended to be the co-feature of the card, the match between American rising contender Floyd Schofield (15-0, 11 KO’s) and Ricardo Lopez Torres (17-7-3, 12 KO’s) has now been elevated to the co-main event.

While this decision is inconvenient for Davies and Barroso, the opportunity for either fighter to become a world champion is expected to persist, with the WBA super lightweight title supposedly still up for grabs by either fighter upon the confirmation of a new date and venue.
