British welterweight/super welterweight contender Conor Benn is set to make a return to the ring, headlining on February 3 in the United Statess. Benn will face undefeated American contender Peter Dobson in a twelve-round bout at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Conor Benn (22-0, 14 KO’s) seems determined to stay active despite his ongoing drug test situation, preventing him from fighting in the UK. His last bout was also in the United States, resulting in a tough-fought unanimous decision victory against Mexican contender Rodolfo Orozco (32-4-3, 24 KO’s), who later tested positive for banned substances.

Despite fighting abroad again, Benn enjoys full support from his promotion, Matchroom, placing him in the main event alongside Peter Dobson (16-0, 9 KO’s). The two will be competing at super welterweight, the second time in a row that Benn will be fighting in that weight class.

Dobson will be stepping into his first twelve-round fight, contrasting with Benn’s previous experience in longer bouts. While Benn has yet to go past four rounds in fights scheduled for twelve, Dobson’s resume is somewhat questionable, with over forty percent of his fights against opponents with losing records.

Although his last three opponents had decent records, Dobson’s opponents had only three losses and a higher number of wins, but their own resumes appear clouded with irrelevant boxers lacking the talent or experience to compete at their level.

However, in the world of boxing, Dobson has the potential to surprise onlookers, much like British 122-pounder Peter McGrail suffered a surprising loss to American contender Ja’Rico O’Quinn just two weeks prior.

The card will also feature a middleweight fight between undefeated American Austin Williams and unbeaten Irishman Connor Coyle. British heavyweight Johnny Fisher is set to fight on the card, with the opponent yet to be announced shortly.

Matchroom is expected to announce more fights for the card in the near future.
