Ryan Garcia has achieved some momentum in potentially clearing his name as the sample that had inconclusively tested positive for the banned substance of norandrosterone reported a negative result after thorough testing, verifying there had been no norandrosterone in Garcia’s body. Despite the small victory, Garcia is still not fully in the clear as he awaits for the B-samples to be tested; which will confirm whether there had actually been ostarine in his system.

According to longstanding boxing reporter Dan Rafael, the [urine] sample that had initially been ruled as “questionable” due to the inconclusive nature of containing norandrosterone was further tested in the past couple of weeks with the eventual result leading to a negative outcome. The sample was collected on April 19th.

However, the B samples of the two other [A] samples which detected ostarine are still set to be tested to conclusively determine the presence of ostarine. Earlier this week, Ryan Garcia (25-1, 20 KO’s) and his team have requested for the B-samples to be tested, with the results of those tests expected to be announced at the back-end of this month.

While this recent outcome of the negative test for norandrosterone does not yet indicate Ryan Garcia is in the clear, the American fighter has already proclaimed himself to be exonerated, attributing this test to the other two that will determine whether he ingested ostarine; a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that has been banned for use by athletes by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

So y’all realize I didn’t fail the tests now,Garcia posted yesterday evening on Twitter/X. “No substance other than this imaginary ostrich [ostarine] substance. Level so low wouldn’t have any effect THEY TRIED BUT NO LIE STANDS. PRAISE GOD.

Despite Garcia claiming his ostarine levels were too low to have any impact in his April 20th fight against Devin Haney (31-1, 15 KO’s), Dan Rafael would correct him shortly after, stating that the “ostarine amount doesn’t matter” as the substance was not allowed in the body on any level; meaning that even slight levels of ostarine are considered a violation by WADA.

In effect, nothing substantial has changed with all parties involved still awaiting the results of the B-samples’ tests that will be conducted on May 22nd according to Rafael. Additionally, only one sample needs to test positive to suggest the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).
