American undisputed minimumweight champion Seniesa Estrada has called it quits after a career that has spanned for almost as long as 13 years. All her 105 lbs titles will be vacated as a result, allowing for a scramble for the belts that will see new champions emerge in the near future. Estrada retires with an undefeated record.

The news was first released by Seniesa Estrada (26-0, 9 KO’s) herself on her Instagram account in an emotional post where she explained why she was retiring.

We did everything we imagined I would do and more as a woman in a male dominated sport. It’s been one wild ride,” Estrada states in her post “I hope that my style of fighting is one that people will remember forever.

Known for her pinpoint boxing ability that made her defensively and offensively the most skilled in the divisions she fought, Estrada has had an underratedly long career that saw her become a world champion rather late when she won the WBO junior flyweight (108 lbs) title in 2021.

More prominently, Estrada achieved greater feats at minimumweight (105 lbs) where she eventually became undisputed after beating fellow Costa Rican champion Yokasta Valle (31-3, 10 KO’s) in a unification fight earlier this year.

Only God knows how long I’ve been contemplating this decision. Physically and mentally, I can’t continue anymore,” Estrada continues. “I know that I am more than an athlete. I know that Seniesa is a name people will continue to hear about. I know I will shine bright at whatever I choose to do next. With love forever, Superbad.

Estrada, 32, will go down in history as one of America’s best female boxers, having carved out an impressive career as both an amateur and a professional. In the amateurs, Estrada won the USA Junior Olympic National Championships in 2008, and the USA Women’s National Championships in 2009.

She first made her professional debut in 2011 at flyweight (112 lbs) before eventually moving down to 108 lbs where she first became a world champion. Aside from her unbeaten resume, Estrada further compiled a record of 3-0 against former or current world champions.

Alongside Yokasta Valle being counted as one of her esteemed beaten opponents, German WBC atomweight champion Tina Rupprecht (13-1-1, 3 KO’s) and fellow countrywoman [as well as former world champion] Marlen Esparza (14-2, 1 KO’s) are included on Estrada’s list of notable fighters she defeated.
