Reports of BLK Prime making a comeback have now been confirmed after the subscription service announced its second-ever upcoming boxing show in its entire history: Greg Hackett vs. Brian Norman Sr. The two will be headlining a card on February 15 set to be promoted by Yah Film works and Promotions. The event will be staged at the Champion Boxing Gym in Jonesboro, Georgia.
BLK Prime’s first boxing show saw Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KO’s) carve out a devastating and mildly controversial win over Armenian fighter David Avanesyan (31-5-1, 19 KO’s) in December of 2022. After signing multi-division champion Adrien Broner (35-5-1, 24 KO’s) to their roster, BLK Prime was expected to become a mainstay in boxing but a set of unfortunate circumstances and mismanagement led to Broner departing without a single fight.
The streaming network subsequently failed to produce a single boxing show after their December 2022 event, but is now appearing to make a comeback with Greg Hackett (3-23-1, 0 KO’s) and Brian Norman Sr. (17-11, 5 KO’s) serving as the catalysts to a potential resurgence of BLK Prime in the sport of boxing. The two will compete at light-heavyweight (175 lbs) in a non-title bout scheduled for 6 rounds.
Greg Hackett, best known for his outspoken opinions on YouTube platform YSM Sports Media, will head into the ring as the more active fighter, having last fought in May of 2024. On paper, however, Brian Norman Sr.―the father of current WBO welterweight (147 lbs) champion Brian Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KO’s)―has a better pedigree given his winning record but will need to bridge a gap of roughly 14 years since he last fought in 2011.]
When it comes to popularity, neither of the headlining fighters appear to be anywhere close to the name recognition of Deontay Wilder (43-4-1, 42 KO’s) and Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s) who have been linked with potentially fighting under the streaming service’s banner to over the past week. However, as a starting point in an industry where global streaming service DAZN appears to be carving out a monopoly, a fight between Hackett and Norman Sr. can give BLK Prime a push to further bolster their efforts.
Complementing the main event will be an array of lesser-known, mostly unranked fighters who will be getting the opportunity to showcase their skills on February 15th.
BLK Prime will further offer the fight as a part of their subscription service rather than staging the show as a pay-per-view (PPV) event like they did for the Crawford-Avanesyan event.
