Some of Japan’s best fighters will continue to showcase their talent this year after Teiken Promotions revealed their upcoming show for March 13th. Held on a Thursday, the event will witness a pivotal and domestic unification bout between Kenshiro Teraji and Seigo Yuri Akui while Shokichi Iwata and Hiroto Kyoguchi will also face off against their respective opponents with world titles involved. The event will be staged at the famous Kokukigan Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Kenshiro Teraji (24-1, 15 KO’s), the current WBC flyweight (112 lbs) champion, and WBA flyweight champion Seigo Yuri Akui (21-2-1, 11 KO’s) will meet in a unprecedented unification fight where both their titles will be on the line.

It is a risky fight for both, and various factors make it inconclusive as to who will come out on top. Both fighters boast respectable resume’s, have plenty of top-rated fighters on their name and have had their own experiences facing another Japanese star in Masamichi Yabuki (17-4, 16 KO’s), with Teraji the only one out of the two to lose against Yabuki during their first fight before netting a knockout victory during their second fight. Akui, in comparison, is the first fighter to stop Yabuki when he did so in 2018.

When it comes to fighting styles, there is plenty of room for discussion with Teraji boasting a more technical and balanced style whilst Akui is known to adopt a more aggressive approach that involves maintaining a high work rate. Their contest is further intriguing given they have sparred before, setting up a bout that will involve a high-stakes chess match between two elite veterans.

In the same 112-pound division, American WBO champion Anthony Olascuaga (8-1, 6 KO’s) will be defending his title against Japanese contender Hiroto Kyoguchi (19-2, 12 KO’s), while in the division below, junior flyweight (108 lbs), Shokichi Iwata (14-1, 11 KO’s) will be defending his own WBO title against Puerto Rican challenger Rene Santiago (13-4, 9 KO’s).

Additionally, an amateur prospect turned pro will be making his official debut on the card; 2021 AIBA gold medalist Tomoya Tsuboi. Tsuboi is likely set to compete at flyweight where he has fought in during most his amateur career.
