The upcoming May 3rd Riyadh Season card that will be headlined by the undisputed super middleweight (168 lbs) bout between Canelo Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KO’s) and William Scull (23-0, 9 KO’s), has had its undercard revealed by General Entertainment Authority (GEA) chairman Turki Alalshikh. The card is further set to be staged in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at The Venue Riyadh Season.

While Alvarez and Scull’s match has already been verified, the complementing bouts to fill up the upcoming event was confirmed yesterday by Turki Alalshikh who posted the official poster of the card with its undercard bouts:

History in the making! Fatal Fury – Canelo vs. Scull lands in Riyadh for the first time ever,Alalshikh posted on Twitter/X.

Canelo defends his undisputed crown outside the US and Mexico… Can’t miss this one!

As has come to be expected with Riyadh Season card, the undercard for the May 2nd event contains several notable fights of which could have stood as a main event on its own. This is exemplified through the highly-billed rematch between 168-pounders Jaime Munguia (44-2, 35 KO’s) and Bruno Surace (26-0-2, 5 KO’s), with the former hoping to gain revenge on the latter after Munguia suffered an upset knockout (KO) loss.

The most significant fight on the undercard will involve the world title bout between WBC cruiserweight (200 lbs) champion Badou Jack (28-3-3, 17 KO’s) and Canadian challenger Ryan Rozicki (20-1-1, 19 KO’s). The match will mark Jack’s return to the ring after being absent for two years, while Rozicki will gain the opportunity to become a world champion after missing out on winning the WBC interim title in a draw with Yamil Peralta (17-1-1, 9 KO’s) last December.

At heavyweight, two of the highest-rated African contenders will be clashing against each other when Congolese heavyweight Martin Bakole (21-2, 16 KO’s) steps into the ring against Nigerian contender Efe Ajagba (20-1, 14 KO’s). The most prevalent storyline in this context will be to see whether Bakole will be able to reignite his career after recently losing to Joseph Parker in February after coming in as a substitute opponent. Despite his recent loss, there are still indications he would come in as the favorite against Ajagba who is coming off a controversial victory over Italian contender Guido Vianello.

The rest of the undercard has been filled with unranked contenders hoping to make their mark in the sport of boxing.
