Background
Despite having no known background as an amateur in boxing, Agit Kabayel was a professional kickboxer prior to becoming a professional boxer. Kabayel turned pro in 2011.
Accomplishments
With no amateur record in boxing to speak of, the German Heavyweight made his professional debut in 2011 on June 23 where he won by TKO. He continued to remain unbeaten, and won the WBC Mediterranean Heavyweight title in 2014. Two years later on June 2, he won the European Union Heavyweight title, and he continued to win another international title the next year in February, adding the European Heavyweight belt to his collection.
The highlight of his career came against Derek Chisora against who he defended and retained the European Heavyweight title by majority decision (MD).
Kabayel defended his European Heavyweight title two more times before challenging for the vacant WBC Continental Heavyweight title against Evgenios Lazaridis. The match took place on te 18th of June in 2020 and he won the 10-round bout soundly by unanimous decision. He next defended his belt against Kevin Johnson – a former one-time contender of Vitali Klitschko’s WBC Heavyweight belt and a regular picked opponent for prospects and contenders.
While not tremendously active after his fight with Johnson, Kabayel fought once in 2022 and twice in 2023. In his second fight in 2023 against Arslanbek Makhmudov, Kabayel recorded an upset victory after defeating Makhmudov by stoppage in the 4th round of their 10-round bout.
Boxing Style
Kabayel has decent footwork, well-capable of stepping in and out of range when needed – especially when controlling the fight – and he makes regular use of pivots to throw his opponent off. He is known to throw powerful hooks, and Kabayel has shown the ability to put together fast combinations for a long stretch during a match. He is also adept at throwing body shots.
