Accomplishments

Alycia Baumgardner noticeably had a successful stoppage streak in her first four fights at Super Featherweight/Junior Lightweight, bouts that were all held in 2017. In 2018, she had to content with two decision victories – one of them coming by way of split decision – where she managed to win the WBC International title in her first match of the year.

Her third fight in 2018 panned out differently as she suffered a tight-knit loss to future Junior Welterweight champion Christina Linardatou. Baumgardner’s confidence came back in full swing in 2019 when she beat all of her opponents thoroughly, two coming by way of TKO victories.

Following a period of the COVID pandemic, Alycia Baumgardner returned to the ring in 2021 where she scored a comfortable UD victory over her opponent. In November of that same way she received her first opportunity for a world title by facing WBC and IBO British champion Terri Harper. Proving herself worthy of being amongst the elite ranks of women’s boxing, Baumgardner beat the champion by stoppage in the fourth round of their ten-round match, thereby becoming a world champion for the first time of her career.

The next year, in 2022, she successfully defended her titles against Edith Soledad Mathysse, before being scheduled to face fellow American champion Mikaela Mayer on October 15th.

Though she won a tough match – unifying the WBC, WBO, IBO and The Ring titles in the process, the match was considered controversial in nature as some critics had believed Mikael Mayer had won the unification bout.

In February of 2023 , Baumgardner faced Elhem Mekhaled with the chance to become undisputed as the WBA world title was left vacant and made available for the bout. Baumgardner coursed to a UD win over Mekhaled, which resulted in her becoming the undisputed champion at 140 lbs.

Boxing Style

alycia baumgardner boxing style

Alycia Baumgardner employs the orthodox stance in her fights. She is known for her spirited and aggressive approach where she charges forward as often as possible. Though appearing reckless in the beginning of her year, she has gradually improved to become more efficient and calculated when fighting up close.

She further sticks out with her physical attributes which has resulted in her being known for having fast and powerful hands, with her right especially known to be lethal when it lands.

She has also developed near lightning-quick jabs over her pro career that  has allowed her to perfectly set up her powerful right hand when the opportunity presents itself. As of recently, she has undergone a fair amount of development in all areas of boxing which made her more well-rounded, versatile and even more dangerous than ever before.
