Background

Armend Xhoxhaj had a fairly underachieving amateur career being he didn’t win significant medals or trophies, but despite the lack in silverware he did decent in competitions such as the European Games and the IBA World Boxing Championships. He became a full-fledged professional in 2018, making his debut as a Cruiserweight.

Accomplishments

Despite suffering a gruesome knockout loss in his fifth match, Armend Xhoxhaj built a budding reputation as a prospect since his debut. Following his first loss, he remained unbeaten until 2021 after suffering a stoppage loss to Mateusz Masternak.

The loss didn’t deter his resolve to compete, and in his very next match he conquered two mid-tier titles to showcase his talent. In 2022, he faced German prospect Roman Fress for a crucial split-decision victory.

He was subject to a brutal KO loss to Chris Billam-Smith in November of 2022, but Xhoxhaj returned swiftly to the ring in February of 2023 with a knockout win over a lesser opponent in Zoltan Sera.

Boxing Style

Armend Xhoxhaj is an orthodox fighter that is very willing to fight in the pocket. His relentless work ethic in the ring and ability to set up rapid combinations has appropiately earned him the nickname of ‘The Bombardier’. He is also capable of fighting off the back foot, a skill that is relatively hard to master for boxers who tend to fight on the inside and therefore want to keep the distance as tight as possible.

His style has often bordered on recklessness, and has culminated in at least two stoppage or knockout losses as a professional, but he has also gradually seemed to improve his defensive skills as a result.
