Riyadh Season is set to host a “Night of Champions” card on November 22nd. The card will feature an array of title fights that were widely reported over the past few weeks and will include prominent fighters such as David Benavidez and Devin Haney. The ANB Arena, based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is set to become the official venue of the show that will involve a multitude of promotions collaborating as has become the norm for Riyadh Season boxing events.
The upcoming November 22nd card was confirmed by Riyadh Season head Turki Alalshikh.
At light-heavyweight (175 lbs), American champion David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KO’s) is set to make both the maiden defense of his WBC title and his Riyadh Season debut against British challenger Anthony Yarde (27-3, 24 KO’s). Per usual championship standards, the bout between the two fighters has been scheduled for a total of 12 rounds.
American WBO welterweight (147 lbs) champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KO’s) is set to compete in the third defense of his belt in a match against the most accomplished he’s faced thus far; two-division champion Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KO’s).
As was already confirmed last week, a mandated title bout for the vacant WBO lightweight (135 lbs) will proceed with American contender Abdullah Mason (19-0, 17 KO’s) and British contender Sam Noakes (17-0, 15 KO’s) competing for the vacant title.
Additionally, American WBC super flyweight (115 lbs) champion Jesse Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KO’s) and Argentinian IBF champion Fernando Daniel Martinez (18-0, 9 KO’s) will be seeking to unify against each other. Preceding this bout will be another unification title bout between Rodriguez and WBO 115-pound champion Phumelele Cafu (11-0-3, 8 KO’s) from South Africa, set to be held next week on June 19th.
It is unknown if Cafu would fill Rodriguez’ position if he comes out on top during their unification bout.
The loaded card has yet to signal which fight will headline the card, and the main billing is likely set to be determined according to interest and fan engagement ― creating an interesting dynamic as the four confirmed title fights appear set to compete to be featured in the main event.
