The Matchroom-promoted April 27th rematch between British super lightweights Jack Catterall and Josh Taylor has been cancelled and moved to May 25th due to an injury that Taylor suffered during training camp. Despite the cancellation of the main event, which was set to take place at the Direct Arena in Leeds, the rematch between British super bantamweight contender Peter McGrail and Ja’Rico O’Quinn―which was planned for the undercard―will take place on the same date of April 27th but at a different venue; the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool.

Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KO’s) and Josh Taylor (19-1, 13 KO’s) will have to wait approximately a month before they are set to resume their heated contest with the first match between them resulting in a controversial win for Taylor with the fight’s scores even becoming subject to an investigation.

The recent postponement of the April 27th fight card is not the first time a rematch between the two had been cancelled, with the two British fighters having been expected to face each other last year only for Taylor to turn around and defend his WBO title against Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KO’s) instead. Lopez would go on to beat Taylor by unanimous decision (UD) and take his WBO title to become the reigning WBO super lightweight/junior welterweight champion.

The new planned date for the 140-pounders has been confirmed to be May 25th at the Direct Arena in Leeds―the same venue where the original rematch had been scheduled to take place.

Peter McGrail (8-1, 5 KO’s) and Ja’Rico O’Quinn (17-1-1, 9 KO’s) will still continue to fight on April 27th―albeit at a different venue―with their match now in place to main event its own fight card. With super bantamweight contender McGrail having suffered a stunning upset knockout (KO) loss to O’Quinn last time around, the two will revisit their December 16th match as headliners this time around next month.
