Accomplishments

Debuting as a Light-Heavyweight, Dan Azeez has remained at 175 lbs since then. Though he remained undefeated over the course of the next half decade or so, his resume was devoid of any notable competition, though he did have several exciting fights against decent British opponent.

Arguably, it was his 2022 fight with Rocky Fielding – a former world champion – that signified he had ‘stepped up’ in a sense. Azeez managed to defeat the more experienced veteran and. in the process, even stopped him.

He continued his knockout/stoppage form with a victory over Frenchman Thomas Faure in March of 2023, stopping the latter in the last round of their 12-round bout.

Azeez was on the cusp of becoming the WBA mandatory challenger of the 175 lbs division when he was scheduled for a match against the #1 WBA light-heavyweight contender Joshua Buatsi on February 3rd in 2024. However, Azeez suffered the first loss of his career as Buatsi outclassed him by unanimous decision to take his spot as the WBA mandatory challenger.

Boxing Style

dan azeez boxing style

Dan Azeez tends to use stiff accurate jabs to maintain control of a fight, and settle his range. He can vary his punches well, making him a danger when he unleashes combinations. Combined with his accuracy and speed, Azeez has often beat down opponents rather than outboxing them. He tends to lean towards a Swarmer style when fighting, but can also simply box his opponent – and on the back foot – when necessary.

He is also quite advanced with his footwork, capable of springing in and out of danger quickly and moving well laterally.
