Daniel Dubois (22-3, 21 KO’s) and Don Charles no longer seem to be working together after it came to light that Tony Sims had replaced Charles to become the British heavyweight’s (200+ lbs) new head coach.
The news follows roughly a month after Dubois lost to current undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk following a stoppage loss on July 19th.
Though an official confirmation from Dubois’ camp has been absent, BoxingScene confirmed the pair have split ways after a relatively successful two-year period.
The two first paired up during Dubois’ first match against Usyk in 2023 ― which also culminated in a stoppage loss. A three-match winning streak followed thereafter for Daniel Dubois who went on to soundly defeat Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua by knockout (KO) or technical knockout (TKO), and further helped guide Dubois to become a world champion [albeit an elevated one after Dubois was promoted from IBF interim champion] for the first time of his career.
Tony Sims, best known for training Joshua during the early portion of his professional career, will now reportedly take over Charles’ training duties. Sims is also known for being the head trainer of British welterweight (147 lbs)/super welterweight (154 lbs)/middleweight (160 lbs) fighter Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KO’s)

Daniel Dubois also fired assistant coach Kieran Farrell earlier this month, spelling an end to what appeared to be a fruitful partnership that abruptly ended following Dubois’ loss to Usyk.
Despite the changes, fingers remain pointed on Dubois’ father, Stan Dubois, who appears to pulling the strings behind-the-scenes and was primarily responsible for a party thrown for Daniel Dubois on the same day he was scheduled to fight Oleksandr Usyk.
