Brian “Bomac” McIntyre is currently regarded as one of the greatest trainers on the planet, and after overseeing a historic victory of his most renowned fighter, Terence Crawford, over Canelo Alvarez on September 13th, the trainer appears to be at least a contender to win the most prestigious award for boxing coaches; the Boxing Writers Association of America’s (BWAA) annually-awarded “Trainer of the Year” award.
Aside from training Crawford, McIntyre has delivered success to other fighters, helping a homegrown fighter in Keyshawn Davis become a lightweight world champion earlier this year, while further helping push Lester Martinez (19-0-1, 16 KO’s) earn his way to an interim title shot against French WBC interim super middleweight (168 lbs) champion Christian M’billi (29-0-1, 14 KO’s).
With the previous bout between Martinez and M’billi ending in a split-decision (SD) draw, the recently WBC-ordered rematch might also tally upon McIntyre’s chances if the fight is held before the BWAA’s annual award ceremony [usually held between April and June] next year.
However, one crucial fight might determine whether McIntyre will actually win an award as the American trainer prepares Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KO’s) to face Conor Benn (23-1, 14 KO’s) for their second bout this year on November 15.

Faced against fellow renowned trainers such as Robert Garcia ― trainer of Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Jesse “Bam Bam” Rodriguez ― who won the last BWAA’s “Trainer of the Year” award in 2024, McIntyre faces steep opposition but might get a step ahead of competition depending on whether Eubank can beat Benn.
The first fight already saw Chris Eubank come out on top against Conor Benn, but a second win for Eubank come next month would arguably seal a second BWAA “Trainer of the Year” award for Brian McIntyre who won his first BWAA award in 2013.
