Accomplishments

Errol Spence Jr. made his professional debut as a Welterweight in 2012. He debuted with a 3rd round KO and he has gone on to remain undefeated since then. His first title was a world title, and came in 2017 when he beat promiment British boxer and IBF champion Kell Brook in a statement match that confirmed Spence’s talent as a potential great.

Spence Jr. went on to showcase his talent against several top contenders, beating the likes of Mikey Garcia and Danny García en route to an unprecedented unbeaten winning run as a Welterweight.

Spence Jr. unified in 2019 after beating highly-acclaimed compatriot Shawn Porter for his WBC Welterweight belt. With only Yordenis Ugas and Terence Crawford – as the other world champions – standing in his path to become undisputed, Errol Spence Jr. has drawn some criticism for his apparent lack of willingness to fight either of these two champions in order to cement his status as one of the greatest Welterweights of all time.

Errol Spence Jr. had the chance to truly seal himself as the best welterweight of all time when he was scheduled to fight Terence Crawford on July 29th in an undisputed welterweight bout. On fight night, however, Spence fell to a shocking loss to Crawford who defeated him in the 9th round by TKO after multiple knockdowns. For the first time of his career, Spence lost his titles and his 0 as a result.

Boxing Style

Errol Spence Jr. is a multi-faceted fighter that has set himself apart as a Welterweight with his physical attributes and his highly advanced boxing skills. He has shown a combination of resilience, ring intellect and athleticism during his professional career.

He has a unique style where he often stays defensively sound by remaining on the back foot, yet he’s still as efficient as any pressure fighter, capable of closing the distance between him and his opponent quickly while his jabs are perfectly timed for him to counterattack any of his opponent’s attack or jar his opponent when possible.

He’s known to be very active in the ring; usually he employs a variety of attacks aimed at different parts of his opponent’s body to throw them off, often allowing him to land hardhitting power punches.
