Good news for boxing – and the women’s division – with as the WBA recently crowned Australian prospect Skye Nicolson with the ‘Female Revelation of the Year'”‘ award. The undefeated Featherweight currently boasts a record of 5-0 (0 KO’s) after impressing in all five of her bouts which she fought in 2022.

Nicolson made her debut on the 5th of March, in 2022, where she went on to beat her opponent handily through a unanimous decision. Since then, Nicolson has continued on in the same vein, stepping up in competition with each opponent while recording unanimous victories over her foes.

In her most recent fight – held on October 15 in 2022, Skye Nicolson stormed to a hard-won victory over fellow Australian Krystina Jacobs (6-4, 0 KO’s). Nicolson is currently set to face twenty-year old Spanish prospect Tania Alvarez (7-0, 1 KO’s) on the 4th of February as part of the undercard of the Amanda Serrano vs. Erika Cruz undisputed bout.

Amanda Serrano (43-2-1, 30 KO’s) and Erika Cruz (15-1, 3 KO’s) are currently the women’s Featherweight division’s incumbent world champions. While Erika Cruz holds the WBA world title, Serrano still holds the WBC, WBO, IBF world titles and The Ring lineal belt. Serrano’s fight against Cruz on the 4th of February will be her second chance to become undisputed following her close split-decision loss to Katie Taylor (22-0, 6 KO’s) in April of 2022 as a Lightweight.
