Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are reportedly in discussions to a stage a rematch of their 2015 bout which saw Mayweather grab a unanimous decision (UD) victory following a bout that endured plenty of criticism.

According to boxing reporter Dan Rafael, a source points towards a match between Mayweather and Pacquiao being planned for April 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada ― though no contract negotiations have yet started. The fight is further planned to be staged as a professional boxing contest.

The two fighters held their 2015 fight on May 2nd in a match that would be billed as the “Fight of the Century” due to Mayweather and Pacquiao being considered legends as they were entering the backend of their careers in their late thirties.

Despite the stature of the mega-fight untold financial records [including breaking the record for most pay-per-view (PPV) sales] being broken due to unparalleled promotion surrounding the event, it ultimately failed to live up to expectations due to the performance of both fighters and was considered highly unentertaining as a result.

Controversy surrounding the result, with some deeming Pacquiao to have won a close decision, only further added to the backlash the fight received ― making it a peculiar choice for another match to be made between the two Hall of Famers ten years after their first fight.

Notably, Floyd Mayweather will be 49 by April next year while Manny Pacquiao will be 47 if he steps into the ring by that time.

Fitting their reputations in the sport, both fighters have kept decently active, however, with Pacquiao recently making a return to the ring against WBC welterweight (147 lbs) champion Mario Barrios, pushing the younger fighter to a majority decision (MD) draw.

Mayweather himself has not been absent in the ring, though not in professional capacity. After retiring following his 50th professional fight against Conor McGregor in 2017, Mayweather began partaking in exhibition bouts in 2018, starting with an easy win over current Japanese bantamweight (118 lbs) contender Tenshin Nasukawa.

Floyd Mayweather’s last exhibition was against Mafia scion John Gotti III on August 24th in 2024. The match went the distance over a total of 8 rounds but saw no winner announced due to the nature of it being an exhibition. It was largely
