Background
Frank Martin was an established amateur. He managed to win the Golden Gloves tournament in 2016. He also did well in the national championships that same year, coming second overall after reaching and losing in the final round. Martin previously also ended up third place in the Golden Gloves competition held in 2015.
Martin turned professional in 2017, making his official debut in October of that year.
Accomplishments
Frank Martin compiled an unbeaten record in the Lightweight division following his debut. Though he debuted in 2017, the prospect’s competition remained somewhat stale until 2021 when he faced his first unbeaten opponent in Jerry Perez who he eventually knocked out.
He continued challenging himself against higher-ranked opposition with a vast amount of wins and few losses, quickly latching himself amongst the top 10 ranking boards by 2022. In December of 2022, he faced a fellow unbeaten prospect in Michel Rivera.
Facing his toughest test of his career thus far, Martin passed with flying colors by beating Rivera by UD. The win helped seal him as a legitimate threat in the Lightweight division, and a likely contender for a world championship.
On July 15th in 2023, Martin faced a tough competitor in Artem Harutyunyan but nonetheless managed to scrape by with a win by unanimous decision.
Boxing Style
Frank Martin possesses quick hands, that he supplements well with finely-tuned boxing abilities that virtually makes him a threat at any point in the fight. His defensive fundamentals are noticeably very well-developed, and though he favors an approach at winning fights by boxing, he is not afraid and very capable of hurting opponents while fighting on the inside.
He has decent power, shown through his above-average KO rate of 70%, and the fact he managed to drop all three of his opponents in three consecutive fights. Furthermore, he can jab well, has good footwork and can find effectively on both the front and back foot.
Notably, Martin is also a decent counterpuncher. The total sum of his abilities have identified him as either an elite Lightweight, or one that’s on the brink of being considered as such.
