The current WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KO’s) has set his demands to Oleksandr Usyk‘s (20-0, 13 KO’s) team to come up with the required money – allegedly a sum totaling an amount of $500 million according to a publicized interview with British pundit Piers Morgan – by the 1st of September.

Fury makes his demands for a potential fight with Usyk

With Fury having as of recently re-affirmed his retirement on his birthday on the 12th of August, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman also confirmed this on video, stating that Fury had informed him of his retirement via video chat. He further wished Fury a happy retirement, without clarifying what would happen to the WBC World Heavyweight title as a result.

Suleiman confirming Tyson Fury’s retirement

With only the WBC belt remaining for Oleksandr Usyk to assert his claim as Undisputed champion in the Heavyweight division, Usyk himself has indicated he would retire if an Undisputed fight couldn’t be made while in the ring after his win against Anthony Joshua.

While it is unknown if the $500 million amount is feasible to be earned when the bout occurs, the Undisputed fight will likely do very well compared to most of the top fights the past couple of years considering the huge stakes involved for both sides, and the rarity of a Undisputed fight occurring in the Heavyweight division. The last Undisputed fight took place on November 13 in 1999; Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield by unanimous decision at the time.
