Argentinian super lightweight contender Gustavo Lemos has landed with an established promotion in Top Rank after signing a co-promotional deal through O.R. (Osvaldo Rivero) Promotions. The signing will see Lemos fight on Top Rank’s exclusive broadcaster of ESPN, granting the fighter the opportunity to showcase more of his fights to a wider audience.

Gustavo Lemos (29-1, 19 KO’s) has been in the sport since making his pro debut in 2016, but has only recently caught the eye of the public after he lost controversially by unanimous decision (UD) to American super lightweight contender Richardson Hitchins (18-0, 7 KO’s).

Lemos’ move to Top Rank will now hopefully see him participate in more relevant fights, with most of his resume filled with opponents that made his ascent up the sanctioning bodies’ rankings slower than necessary. By joining forces with Top Rank, the 28-year old contender can work towards becoming a legitimate contender, being currently only ranked with the International Boxing Federation (IBF) where he is rated as the 6th best contender according to the IBF’s 140 lbs rankings.

According to Top Rank’s official press release regarding Lemos’ signing, the Argentinian already has an opponent lined up with an announcement of his fight expected in the upcoming months. Depending on who he faces, Lemos can potentially find his way onto the rest of the sanctioning bodies’ ranking boards and inch closer towards a world title fight.

One probable candidate for Lemos in case of a future world title shot would be Top Rank stablemate and WBO 140 lbs champion Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KO’s) who will be defending his title on June 29th against Canadian contender Steve Claggett (38-7-2, 28 KO’s).
