Accomplishments

Starting out as a Middleweight since his debut, Janibek Alimkhanuly would go on a tear through the division; remaining undefeated while stepping up each opponent to move up the ladder. By his tenth fight – over the course of the next five years, Alimkhany became an established world title contender. Not only was this because of his unbeaten streak, but also the mid-tier titles that he won in the pursuit of a higher position within the rankings.

In his twelfth fight, he received the opportunity for a vacant world interim title against fellow contender Danny Dignum in May of 2022. He came out on top against the Brit, scoring a surprise – and devastating – knockout in the second round of the fight.

In August of that year, Alimkhanuly was promoted to world champion when Demetrius Andrade – the former holder of the WBO champion – was stripped of his title due to inactivity. In that manner, Alimkhanuly became a world champion for the first time.

He defended his world title against Denzel Bentley in November of 2022, and confidently came out on top against the Brit by winning through a unanimous decision in what had been a close match prior to the latter stages.

On May 13th of 2023, Alimkhanuly defended his world title for the second time against contender Steven Butler. Butler proved to be no match for the Kazakhstani champion in his match with Alimkhanuly when he was knocked out in just the second round of their bout.

Janibek Alimkhanuly achieved another significant TKO victory when he faced IBF middleweight champion Vincenzo Gualtieri in a unification match on October 14th. Alimkhanuly went on to stop Gualtieri in the 6th round to unify his world titles for the first time of his career after claiming Gualtieri’s IBF title whilst defending his own WBO belt.

In 2024, Alimkhanuly would resume his growing career, facing Australian challenger Andrei Mikhailovich in Mikhailovich’s home country of Australia and netting a dominant win to see him retain his IBF title (though his WBO title would not be defended during this title bout).

Boxing Style

janibek alimkhanuly boxing style

Janibek Alimkhanuly is a southpaw that has proven to be skilled in virtually every aspect of boxing. He doesn’t use a particular style, and seems well capable of switching up on how he fights depending on who his opponent is.

He has a fair amount of power, but doesn’t rely on it to win matches, relying instead on his punch output to tilt the scorecards in his favor, or yield a knockout/stoppage win . His excellent reaction time makes him a solid counterpuncher, and he also displayed a fairly high amount of intelligence in the ring by regularly using angles during offensive moments.
