American Heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson has drawn a lot of attention nationally with his 100% knockout rate, but the Ohio-born fighter’s undefeated record now hangs in the balance after the announcement of his latest opponent; Zhan Kossobutskiy. For the first time of his career, Anderson will be headlining an ESP card on July 1st against a Heavyweight as dangerous as him.
Jared Anderson (14-0, 14 KO’s) has finished every opponent he’s face inside the distance so far, impressing greatly not just due to his spring age of 23 but also due to the opponents he’s fought. 2021 saw a noticeable uptick in quality of opponents, and the American Heavyweight has gone on to finish all of them ― all within just two rounds.
Having proven himself against arguably mid-tier fighters, Anderson is now making a step up from his label of ‘prospect’ to face a legitimate and dangerous Heavyweight, Zhan Kossobutskiy (19-0, 18 KO’s) who himself is angling for a shot at the top Heavyweights. Though the Kazakhstani Heavyweight is older by at least a decade, Kossobutskiy sports a similarly threatening record with his 18 KO’s out of 19 victories. He is additionally known to be one of Kazakhstan’s greatest exports when it comes to the Heavyweight division ― if not the greatest, despite not yet having decorated his career with notable fights or world titles.
The two will face each other in a match-up that will determine the course of both their careers as their undefeated statuses will be put on the line. With both fighters known for their power, it will be an interesting match-up between styles with both being known to be rather aggressive, but no less skilled.
Undoubtedly, it also means that the two Heavyweights will face the best combatants either of them have ever faced in the ring, and both fighters will likely challenge one another to a great extent. With neither Jared Anderson or Zhan Kossobutskiy edging out with pro experience or size, their battle may hinge on stamina, skill, power or a combination of all aforementioned.
Not only will the winner between this match-up be able to record an impressive win over a viable contender; they will also be considered a worthy contender thereafter given the level of their opponent. The entire bout gives us a feeling that it might be a must-watch contest that may tremble the rest of the Heavyweight division depending on its outcome.
Anderson and Kossobutskiy will meet each other in the ring in Anderson’s home city of Ohio at a yet-to-be-announced venue on the 1st of July.
