The exciting heavyweight match-up between British heavyweight Fabio Wardley (18-0-1, 17 KO’s) and American fighter Jarrell Miller (26-1-2, 22 KO’s) will no longer continue as Miller has reportedly pulled out due to a shoulder injury. Their contest was set to transpire on June 7th at the Portman Road Football Ground in Ipswich, based in the United Kingdom.
Queensberry Promotions, who was set to promote the upcoming card featuring Wardley and Miller, has announced a replacement for Miller will be sought:
“Due to a shoulder injury sustained during training camp, Jarrell Miller has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Fabio Wardley at Portman Road on June 7,” Queensberry’s announcement reads.
“Queensberry are currently speaking to all relevant parties regarding the situation and expect to have a replacement opponent announced within the next 48 hours.“
The post, released on April 30, signified a replacement would be announced by today [Friday, May 2]. With Wardley currently ranked at #1 and #3 with the WBA and WBO respectively, the expectations surrounding Miller’s replacement will be that they are a top 10 contender given Miller was considered the same. However, with the event roughly a month away from commencing, it will be difficult to acquire an opponent of significant standing within the rankings.
Given Queensberry’s aptitude in finding ideal substitute opponents, exemplified by when they replaced prominent British contender Dillian Whyte with a top contender in Filip Hrgovic (18-1, 14 KO’s) against Joe Joyce (16-4, 15 KO’s), the promotion has shown the ability to bring in the best possible alternatives for their fighters.
