Background
Jason Whateley competed internationally for his home nation Australia, competing in tournaments such as the Commonwealth Games – which he managed to win silver with in 2018, the World Men’s Boxing Championships, the Aratura Games and the inter-continental Ocean Championships. He also competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics, though he just failed to make the final 16 of the tournament when he ended up losing to end in the 17th position of the competition. Whateley made his professional debut in 2018.
Accomplishments
With just barely a double-digit number in fights, Jason Whateley’s professional career is still budding, which is mostly attributed due to him entering the professional ranks later than the average fighter at 27. He has not remained idle however, winning himself at least five titles over a course of four years.
He noticeably beat Victor Oganov twice, winning a mid-tier title after each encounter.
Boxing Style
Jason Whateley is an orthodox-stance fighter and employs a out-boxer style, preferring to beat his opponents from a distance while taking as minimal damage as possible. His key assets are his jabs, his movement on his feet and with his body & head, which has made him adept defensively and offensively. He often avoids fighting up close as his lanky tall frame of 6 ft 5 doesn’t allow him many advantages in the pocket.
