Background
Despite a rather modest amateur career, Joshua Franco has shown a good account for himself in the amateur ranks of boxing. He managed to reach the final of national amateur tournaments several times, and was also a regular participant in the Golden Gloves tournament, even managing to reach the quarter-final at some point.
Franco turned professional in 2015. He is also the older brother of fellow boxing professional Jesse Rodriguez.

Accomplishments
Joshua Franco began his career at 118 lbs where he carved out his own undefeated path towards the top, remaining titleless for nearly half a decade before winning his first titles – the WBC-NABF and WBA International – against Oscar Negrete in 2019.
A year later, he would be matched up with Australian WBA (Regular) champion Andrew Moloney after moving down to Super Flyweight. Franco confidently defeated the Australian by unanimous decision to become a world champion for the first time of his career.
Though the pair faced each other two more times, their second bout was ruled a no-contest after Franco suffered an eye injury due to a clash of heads. Their third match – but officially ruled as their second – was held in 2021 where Franco again came out on top.
Franco is now set to challenge himself again in a unification match against multi-weight world champion Kazuto Ioka on the last day of December in 2021.
Boxing Style

Joshua Franco is known to push the pace with a Swarmer-style of boxing, but he’s also well-adept at fighting defensively and on the back foot when pushed to. He is also known as an efficient body puncher.
Despite his tendency to pressure, Franco is more than just a pressure fighter. He can box well against opponents that look to back him up, especially when he makes use of his jab.
