Background

Kim Clavel won several national amateur boxing tournaments during her tenure in the unpaid ranks. She was also a member of the Canadian amateur boxing team and would often compete internationally as a result where she did fairly well. Her last run as an amateur saw her winning the AMBC (American Boxing Continental Championships) around the summer of 2017.

She turned professional not long after and made her official pro debut in December of 2017.

Accomplishments

Competing as a Junior Flyweight from the onset of her professional career, Clavel built up a decent resume while remaining undefeated. Her first title win – WBC-NABF – came in 2019, and she built on her victory to gradually rise up the ranks.

In 2022, her efforts were rewarded by her becoming a world champion after beating WBC Junior Flyweight champion Yesenia Gomez by unanimous decision.

Clavel is now set to unify against Jessica Nery Plata in January of 2023.

Boxing Style

Though she is a capable boxer, Kim Clavel is also effective when pressuring her opponents, and she is known to fluctuate between these styles to throw her opponents off, or gain an advantage depending on how her opponent fights. Clavel is a capable body puncher, can jab well and heavy and has the footwork needed to move in and out seamlessly when the opportunity presents itself.
