Background
With a total of 125 amateur fights – including 103 wins and 19 losses, Krzysztof Glowacki’s amateur career saw him win several national championships as a junior, win silver as a senior and bronze at the EU Championships.
Glowacki came close to competing for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, but he eventually lost to David Price in the European qualifiers of the Olympics which ended his potential Olympic run.
Glowacki became a full-fledged professional on the 3rd of October in 2008 when he officially made his pro debut.
Accomplishments
While moving up the Cruiserweight rankings, Krzysztof Glowacki managed to remain unbeaten while he won himself several mid-tier titles over the years following his debut.
Glowacki won his first world title (WBO) on August 14th in 2015 after knocking out his opponent and then-champion Marco Huck by knockout. After retaining his title against former IBF Cruiserweight world champion Steve Cunningham in 2016, Glowacki suffered the first loss of his career when he lost by decision – in the same year – against future undisputed Cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
He quickly recaptured his winning form – beating contender Maxim Vlasov in the process to win the interim WBO title in 2018 – and even became a full champion again after Usyk moved up to Heavyweight – who held the WBO title at the time. Glowacki fell to defeat a second time however when he faced Mairis Briedis in the semi-final of the WBSS in 2019 who stopped him.
He attempted to comeback in 2021 against British prospect Lawrence Okolie for the then-vacant WBO Cruiserweight title, but lost for the third time when he was stopped again by the Brit. His last match was in 2022 where he beat his opponent, Francisco Rivas Ruiz, by TKO.
Boxing Style
A southpaw, Krzysztof Glowacki often uses this to his full advantage against orthodox opponents by using his left hand almost as efficiently as one would a jab. With his left hand crosses he often manages to confound his opponents who won’t expect these punches, and as he unleashes a cross rather than jab, they often hit hard when landing.
This especially comes in handy with his tendency to box opponents from the outside, and alongside his jab, his straights seem to be Glowacki’s most powerful assets.
