Background
Lyndon Arthur fought approximately 50 times as an amateur and performed well in both national and international competitions. He was a two-time finalist at the English National Championships – winning silver in the process – and also competed at the WSB during his tenure as an amateur. Arthur turned professional in 2016.
Accomplishments
After making his debut at 175 lbs in 2016, Lyndon Arthur went slightly under the radar despite his unbeaten winning streak until his Commonwealth title victory in 2019. After defending his title in 2020 once, he was matched later in the year with Anthony Yarde.
Though coming in as the underdog, Lyndon Arthur prevailed over Yarde through a close split decision win. He followed up his unbeaten form with another successful (stoppage) victory in 2021. In December of that year, he was scheduled to face Yarde for a second time.
Though Arthur had been in good form and had been undefeated, his bout with Yarde ended in steep disappointment when Arthur suffered his first loss by knockout in the fourth round, losing both his Commonwealth and WBO Inter-Continental title in the process.
Arthur returned in 2022 with bang, recording two stoppage victories in a row.
Boxing Style
Patient but powerful, Lyndon Arthur often lets his opponent come forward so he can catch them on the counter. Appropriately, he has developed the boxing skills needed to fight regularly on the back foot, and he sports a lethal jab whenever possible. He has shown good body and head movement, but his tendency to box has seen him occasionally lacking against opponents that are well-versed at fighting on the inside.
