Accomplishments

Since his debut in 2012, Regis Prograis has fought in the Junior Welterweight/Super Lightweight where he has shown to not only belong, but thrive, as he went unbeaten from the start of his professional career until losing in 2019 to eventual undisputed champion Josh Taylor during the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS).

Prograis became an interim world champion in 2018 when he beat Julius Indongo to claim the WBC interim title. Prograis became a full fledged champion when he competed in the WBSS and won the WBA world Junior Welterweight title in the semi-final.

Prograis remains one of his division’s top fighter after his close-knit loss to Josh Taylor, and the American subsequently unleashed a three-match TKO streak since his first-ever career loss. On November 26th (in 2022), Prograis successfully beat Jose Zepeda to capture the vacant WBC Junior Welterweight/Super Lightweight title.

Regis Prograis defended his WBC title for the first time in June of 2023 where he narrowly won over his opponent, Danielito Zorrilla, by split-decision to retain his WBC title.

On December 9th, Regis Prograis suffered his second career loss to Devin Haney by unanimous decision, losing his WBC title in the process.

Boxing Style

regis prograis boxing style

As a southpaw, Regis Prograis has proven to be quite difficult for opponents when he operates as a counterpuncher and looks to control a fight by throwing the fighter off with well-timed counters. He’s very quick with feet and hands, resilient and he packs a lot of power in his punches when he has decided to take up a more aggressive form of fighting.
