It appears Manny Pacquiao is not the only aged fighter set to come out of retirement as British legend Ricky Hatton will grace the ring once more. Retired since 2012, Hatton is aiming for a comeback set for December 2 in Dubai against one of the UAE’s native fighters, Eisa Al Dah ― a former professional turned promoter.
Ricky Hatton will be 47-years old when he returns to the ring on December 2nd in a comeback fight versus United Arab Emirates promoter Eisa Al Dah, best known for his work through the Dubai-based promotion of EMD Fight Night.
The number of rounds and division the two will compete in have not yet been revealed. Hatton last fought at welterweight (147 lbs) against the likewise retired Vyacheslav Senchenko from Ukraine, but found the most success in the super lightweight (140 lbs) division where he conquered several titles.
Al Dah, 46, has a resume that sharply pales in comparison to Hall of Famer Hatton ― having faced but one fighter with a winning record, Spanish fighter Ignasi Caballero, who had five wins and three losses under his belt before he incurred a fourth loss to Al Dah.
The event, styled as the “Destiny in the Desert”, will be promoted by Al Dah’s own promotional company of EMD and is set to feature the former professionals as the headliners of the show.
Following retirement, Hatton has delved into coaching and most recently oversaw a win from English cruiserweight (200 lbs) John Hedges (11-0, 3 KO’s) over countryman Nathan Quarless (13-2, 0 KO’s) on the undercard of the May 17th show headlined by Johnny Fisher and David Allen.
Ricky Hatton is also the father of 140-pound fighter Campbell Hatton (14-2, 5 KO’s) whose career appears in a state of limbo after he suffered two back-to-back losses to countryman James Flint (15-3-2, 3 KO’s).
