Robert Helenius had a lengthy senior amateur career, recording  a total of 106 wins and 35 losses. Accomplishments

Helenius proved his talent in the Heavyweight division, going undefeated for more twenty matches and beating highly-rated Heavyweight Derek Chisora by split decision in what was considered a highly-controversial but entertaining spectacle [1].

He won a range of international titles during this period, until he faced French fighter Johan Duhaupas in 2016, losing by knockout in the 6th round.

Helenius went on a three-win streak before being defeated by Dillian Whyte through a unanimous decision.

He recovered from the win with another three-win streak but was overcome by Gerald Washington who knocked him out in the eight round.

Ever-showing his fortitude, Helenius recovered from the abrupt loss to Washington to beat highly-touted Heavyweight prospect Adam Kownacki twice by TKO in 2020 and 2021.

On October 15 in 2022, Helenius faced Deontay Wilder in an unsuccessful attempt to win a mandatory spot against Andy Ruiz Jr. to face the WBC champion Tyson Fury. Helenius suffered a shocking 1st round loss against Wilder.

Robert Helenius returned in 2023 on August 5th with a dominant TKO victory over countryman Mika Mielonen. A week later, circumstances surrounding Dillian Whyte allowed him to replace the British heavyweight against Anthony Joshua on August 12th.

Unfortunately, Helenius succumbed to a 7th-round KO by Anthony Joshua on fight night.

Boxing Style

robert helenius boxing style

Robert Helenius is known to effectively use his size, fully taking advantage of his reach and height to damage his opponents from range. Despite having faced several knockout defeats, Helenius has more than demonstrated to have a powerful chin, having faced onslaughts of heavy punchers like Derek Chisora, and combo-punchers like Adam Kownacki, even surviving a knockdown in a fight with the latter to come back to eventually KO Kownacki.

He is also a proven veteran of the Heavyweight division, facing many different styles and fighters that allows him to avoid getting outboxed.
