American unified super welterweight (154 lbs) champion Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KO’s) has finally found a suitable opponent to fight for the title defense of his WBC and WBO titles after Errol Spence Jr., the former unified welterweight (147 lbs) champion who has not fought since July of 2023, withdrew from a contest with Fundora.
Another American contender, Chordale Booker (23-1, 11 KO’s), has now been propped up as a potential opponent for Sebastian Fundora. As a result, their fight will now be headlining a Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) show that is will be part of the PBC’s first non-PPV television programming of this year come March 22nd. The event will be held at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and broadcasted by Amazon Prime.
Booker, 33, is relatively lesser known compared to other American fighters in the 154-pound division, including the likes of Charles Conwell (21-0, 16 KO’s) and Jesus Ramos Jr. (22-1, 18 KO’s), but qualifies as an opponent for Fundora to defend both his world titles against given his #5 position on the WBO’s super welterweight rankings. Booker also occupies the #14 spot on the WBC’s 154 lbs rankings, making him a suitable top 15 contender for Fundora to engage without compromising the unified champion’s hold over his titles.
Notably, Booker has been campaigning at middleweight (160 lbs) and super welterweight interchangeably over the past couple of years, with his last fight being held at 160 pounds.
Further complementing the card will be a match-up between former 154-pound American contenders Elijah Garcia (16-1, 13 KO’s) and Terrell Gausha (24-4-1, 12 KO’s) who will be fighting at middleweight.
Jesus Alejandro Ramos Jr., who just recently completed a notable victory over former 154 lbs unified champion Jeison Rosario (24-5-2, 18 KO’s) [from the Dominican Republic] will also be participating on the card against unranked Mexican fighter Kevin Salgado Zambrano (17-2-1, 12 KO’s).
