A title match has been arranged between WBA bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue (L) and former world champion Jerwin Ancajas (R) at the Kokukigan Arena in Tokyo on Wednesday, November 15th.

Japanese promotion ‘Teiken Promotions’ has announced a new boxing event headlined by Takuma Inoue, the WBA bantamweight champion, and former world champion Jerwin Ancajas from the Philippines. The event will be held on November 15th at the Kokukigan Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

Takuma Inoue (18-1, 4 KO’s) last fought in April when he became a world champion for the first time by defeating Venezuelan contender Liborio Solis (37-7-1, 18 KO’s) via unanimous decision (UD) to win the vacant WBA bantamweight title. This title had been relinquished by Takuma’s older brother, Naoya Inoue (25-0, 22 KO’s), after he decided to move up to super bantamweight.

Now in possession of his brother’s title, Takuma Inoue must defend it against Jerwin Ancajas (34-3-2, 23 KO’s), who is renowned for his long tenure as the IBF super flyweight champion from 2016 to 2021. After suffering two defeats at super flyweight, with his first loss resulting in him losing his IBF title, Ancajas made the move to the 118 lbs division in June when he defeated bantamweight fighter Wilner Soto (23-13, 12 KO’s).

Ancajas has the opportunity to become a two-division champion if he emerges victorious against Inoue. Takuma Inoue himself can achieve an important milestone in his career by successfully defending his world title for the first time against a respected and dangerous opponent.

The fight card on November 15th will also feature WBA flyweight champion Artem Dalakian (22-0, 15 KO’s), who will defend his title against Japanese contender Seigo Yuri Akui (18-2-1, 11 KO’s).
