Taylor-Serrano III To Host All-Women’s Undercard On July 11, New MVP Signees Alycia Baumgardner & Jennifer Miranda Set To Debut Against Each Other

The undercard of the trilogy bout between Katie Taylor (24-1, 6 KO’s) and Amanda Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KO’s) has been revealed and will feature a card fully complemented by women. The event, hosted by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), is set to launch on July 11th at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York and will further feature an array of world title fights, including Alycia Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KO’s) as she defends her four super featherweight (130 lbs) titles against Spanish challenger Jennifer Miranda (12-0, 1 KO’s).

As their previous bout, the third match between Taylor and Serrano will be held at super lightweight (140 lbs) where Taylor will defend all her 140-pound titles for the second time. Their fight has been approved for 10 rounds, set to be held over 2 minutes as is standard with title fights for the women’s division.

Baumgardner, 30, is coming off a no-contest with Belgian former world champion Delfine Persoon (49-3, 19 KO’s). With no mandate from the WBC, WBO or IBF withstanding in lieu of Persoon’s position as the #1 contender on their ranking boards, Baumgardner will somehow be making a voluntary defense against Miranda who is not ranked on any of the 130-pound ranking boards. Baumgardner continues to hold all the titles in the 130 lbs division as the undisputed champion.

While Jennifer Miranda is considered one of the highest-rated contenders at featherweight (126 lbs), it is currently unknown how the Spanish contender managed to be involved in a world title fight at 130 lbs without being officially ranked there with the primary four sanctioning bodies.

Miranda further holds no relevant experience fighting for either a world title or outside of her native country of Spain, chalking her sudden world title opportunity down to pure negligence from the sanctioning bodies whose rules state only a top 15 contender can challenge for a world title.

Further complementing the card will be a unification bout between WBO & IBF super bantamweight (122 lbs) champion Ellie Scotney (10-0, 0 KO’s) from the UK, and Mexican WBC champion Yamileth Mercado (24-3, 5 KO’s).

At bantamweight (118 lbs), another unification fight is set to transpire between Danish unified [WBC & WBO] champion Dina Thorslund (23-0, 9 KO’s) and American IBF champion Shurretta Metcalf (14-4-1, 2 KO’s).

The all-female card shows MVP’s clear direction to provide an avenue for female fighters, having built their stable gradually from Amanda Serrano to now harboring a current undisputed champion in Alycia Baumgardner who signed with them last month. As has been confirmed recently, Miranda has also joined the MVP stable and will be making her promotional debut alongside Baumgardner.
