Background

Trevor Bryan was quite successful within the unpaid ranks of boxing; in 2005 and 2006 he won the USA Junior Olympic National Championships. He continued to fight as an amateur until 2011.

His performances as an amateur allowed him to reach the quarter- and semi-finals in several tournaments (i.e. the USA Golden Gloves and USA National Championships) but he failed to replicate the gold-winning feats he had earlier in his amateur career. Bryan made his pro debut on November 5 in 2011.

Accomplishments

Fighting under the promotional company of Don King, Trevor stopped his opponent in the second round of his debut and would continue to have similar performances over a span of more than a decade. After four years of remaining undefeated, Bryan fought for his first mid-tier title – the WBA Fedebol heavyweight title – which he won in an easy fight where the referee eventually forced the fight to stop. That same year he won the WBC-NABF Junior heavyweight belt, this time by UD.

Bryan continued on with his winning streak and in 2018, he beat Heavyweight BJ Flores to capture the WBA (interim) World Heavyweight title, putting him in the position to fight for then-champion Anthony Joshua’s WBA (Super) World Heavyweight title, amongst other titles.

Due to mostly the COVID-19 pandemic, Bryan was out for three years until he faced Bermane Stiverne (another Don King fighter) on January te 29th in 2021, TKO’ing Bermane in the eleventh round to earn the WBA (Regular) World Heavyweight title.

While the WBA is known to ‘unify’ their regular and super titles, Trevor Bryan had yet to face the super belt holder, and he eventually lost his regular belt in a fourth-round stoppage loss to British prospect Daniel Dubois.

Boxing Style

Bryan is not known as the fastest Heavyweight in the division, but he carries a large amount of power behind his punches, and he has proven the ability to not only utilize his jab for clever tactics, but also hurt his opponents with the jab.

His amateur experience has helped to balance his skillset, but the lack in finding the right opponents to test him has seemingly affected his growth. That became even more apparent when he faced Daniel Dubois to defend his WBA regular world title, as the younger Brit outworked and outsmarted him to eventually land the finishing blow to stop Bryan.
