Tyson Fury is still trying to come to terms with his back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk last year. Making an appearance at the “IBA Golden Era” press conference held in Istanbul, Turkey, Fury was approached by the media for several topics; including whether he would come out of retirement. Despite a fight with Anthony Joshua potentially being one of the best British fights in history, Fury only seems interested in coming retirement to face Usyk for a third time.
Tyson Fury announced his retirement last year roughly a month after suffering his second career loss to the same fighter that handed him his first; Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KO’s).
Both fights, though competitive, clearly swung in Usyk’s favor yet Fury seems to think the opposite as he would maintain during a recent interview:
“Listen, my last fight was a clear f****** victory for the Gypsy King,” Fury asserted to IFL TV.
“Anyone in boxing could see that ― a complete load of dog s***. [It was] political, whatever you want to call it. As soon as [the result] was announced I was like, ‘What the f*** is going on here?’. But I accept it. I’m a man. I don’t make excuses.“
Contradicting himself by claiming he doesn’t make excuses while literally doing as such in his earlier statements, Fury went on to reveal under which circumstances he would come back from retirement.
“I don’t know [who would win between Dubois and Usyk]. Dubois is very young, ambitious, a big, strong man and Usyk’s very experienced,” Fury stated.
“But again, he’s [Usyk] coming off two fights [against] me, which he didn’t win them, but he got a decision ― which is all that matters.
“He’s [Usyk] 38-years old. If I was going to come back, I’d come back against Uysk. But I want a fair result in England. That would be the most fight that I want next.“
Usyk is currently set to face Daniel Dubois for a second time next month and is set to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight (200+ lbs) champion if he were to come out on top.
