The aftermath of Ryan Garcia’s loss to Gervonta Davis might have earned him the respect of hardcore boxing fans and his peers, but there also seems to be no shortage of people who aim to pile on his April 22nd defeat at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. In particular, Garcia’s own former sparring partner, Tsendbaatar Erdenebat ― who had attended Ryan Garcia’s training camp for his fight with Gervonta Davis, recently came out with an apology video that could easily be misinterpreted given the information he revealed.
The revelation of Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions, of knowing the ins-and-outs of Ryan Garcia’s training camp, including the presence of a mole or spy, seemed to have been inadvertently exposed by one of Ryan Garcia’s sparring partners following the fighter’s loss to Gervonta Davis. Following Gervonta Davis’ own comments revealing that he knew Ryan Garcia had suffered an injury during his camp, the actual cause of that apparent injury, Garcia’s sparring partner, came out with a video revealing as much.
“He got hurt to the body before.” Gervonta Davis revealed during a post-workout interview. “He thinks I don’t know that.“
When asked on during which fight that was, Davis alleged that it happened during one of Ryan Garcia’s training camp prior to his fight with Gervonta Davis. “It wasn’t no fight. Ask him. Just let him know that I know he got hurt to the body. Word get around real fast; he got hurt to the body.“
Tsendbaatar Erdenebat, a Mongolian prospect who had been hired for Ryan Garcia’s training camp as a sparring partner, revealed as much in his own apparent apology video towards Garcia.
“Hey King Ryan, in sparring, I injured you with a body shot. Now you lost to Tank. I am sorry, are you okay?” Erdenebat asked on a video he released on his Instagram account.
This immediately led to speculation that he might have been the mole that both Gervonta Davis and Leonard Ellerbe had alleged to know of, but the Mongolian prospect quickly reached out through social media to deny those rumors.
“I am getting called names. They call me rat and mole. It was only about an apology.” Tsendbaatar Erdenebat later rectified again through social media. “I didn’t rat on no one. I am not a rat.“
Erdenebat further clarified why he put out the video in the first place by revealing that he had been put out of the camp because the alleged injury he incurred on Ryan Garcia, and that he was merely trying to be apologetic over those circumstances and Ryan Garcia’s loss.
“I was getting paid to spar, it was about 6K a month. It was at the 6th sparring session that I hit him with the punch I was practicing. I hit him in the body. He got injured, Ryan went to the hospital and I went home with half my salary.” Erdenebat explained. “I got fired from the sparring. The video I uploaded on Instagram was only to apologize to Ryan.“
With Tsendbaatar Erdenebat not bearing the responsibility for the mole or spy within Ryan Garcia’s camp, the mystery thickens further as the alleged mole remains elusive and in the wind.
