Background

While Yamil Peralta has only won one gold medal (at the South American Games) throughout his amateur career, he has performed well in the amateur circuit, managing to corral several bronze medals in prestigious competitions such as the Pan American Games and the World Amateur Championships, making him one of the more noticeable Argentinian prospects of his era.

He faced a number of prospects who would go on to become noteworthy contenders or champions, including Carlos Gongora, Roman Fress and Tommy McCarthy.

Yamil Peralta background

Accomplishments

Turning pro in 2018, Yamil Peralta debuted as a Cruiserweight, winning his first match by knockout. Peralta showed good account of himself in the beginning stages, quickly going on to win titles while testing himself against his opposition while fighting longer rounds – a rarity somewhat for boxers that just started.

By his 6th fight, Yamil Peralta was already engaging with combatants in 12-round fights. Gradually he rose up in prominence due to this fact and his unbeaten streak. In 2022 he faced Ryan Rozicki in what would eventually become a controversial split-decision loss for him, but he recovered near-instantly and fought that same year to win the WBC International title against Fábio Maldonado.

Boxing Style

In his orthodox stance, Yamil Peralta seeks to take control at distance, and as a result he has developed a good jab and decent footwork – being capable of fighting off the back foot when needed. He is prone not to take unnecessary risks, and mostly looks to dominate by outboxing his opponent. His approach in the ring has quickly made him one of the more formidable pure boxers in his division as he has also shown a degree of above-average ring IQ, aside from displaying his well-developed skillset..
