Campbell Hatton, son of British legend Ricky Hatton, is no longer a professional boxer according to his father who revealed Hatton had lost his motivation to continue fighting. Competing a total of sixteen times in the professional ranks, Hatton has put a stop to a three-year career that ended promptly two back-to-back losses to countryman James Flint.

Campbell Hatton’s retirement was never officially announced but appears certain after famed father Ricky Hatton revealed the fighter had switched to a day job after a recent tragic incident:

I said, ‘Listen, son. You should be very proud of yourself. You’ve given it a go,Hatton told BOXING NOW in a recent exclusive interview.

“‘But if you’ve lost your mojo, you need to get out of this game. You can’t play at boxing. You can play at any other sport, but you can’t play at boxing.

So I advised him and now he’s doing solar panels. So he’s gone into another job. He’s a grafter, he’s worked hard. He gave it a go, but it just wasn’t for wasn’t for Campbell.

First debuting in 2021, the 24-year old Campbell Hatton was promoted by Matchroom for the entirety of his short career. Under the banner of a significant promotion while carrying forth the legacy of his father, Hatton struggled somewhat to meet the high expectations placed on him.

Competing as a super lightweight (140 lbs) for most his career, Hatton has not appeared in the ring since his two losses against James Flint (15-3-2, 3 KO’s) in 2024 and now appears to be out of the sport after being confirmed to have taken a job setting up solar panels.

Hatton’s decision seems to not only have been prompted by his challenging boxing career but by a recent tragedy after a friend of his died.

He [Campbell Hatton] lost one of his best friends, Justin, who passed away at 27 years of age,” Ricky Hatton said.

So he went through a bit of a [hard] time. When he was in the gym, he’d lost his mojo and his heart wasn’t in it.

The news of Campbell Hatton’s retirement is a stark contrast to Ricky Hatton’s impending return to the ring after 13 years. The 46-year old Hatton is set to enter the ring at the age of 47 when he faces UAE fighter-turned-promoter Eisa Al Dah on December 2nd on Al Dah’s home turf.
