Conor Benn is set to appear on the undercard of the Hitchins-Zepeda fight card to be held upcoming Saturday, September 23rd, at the Caribe Royale Orlando, in Orlando, Florida. The news was confirmed today by Matchroom Boxing, Benn’s promoter. It will mark Conor Benn’s return to the ring since the circumstances surrounding his failed drug test[s].

Conor Benn (21-0, 14 KO’s) will be fighting in his usual weight of 147 lbs against 24-year old Mexican welterweight Rodolfo Orozco (32-3-3, 24 KO’s), in a non-title bout set for ten rounds.

Though Benn is likely still barred from fighting in the UK due to the pending appeal by UKAD of the decision by the NADP to clear him to fight, he is now evidently able to fight outside of the UK, given he will be fighting on US soil. This also implies that he has been granted an international boxing license, enabling him to fight outside of Britain.

The news does not necessarily come as a shock, as Eddie Hearn had already hinted at a possible return for Conor Benn before, but it is a notable occurrence given Benn’s PED-case, which has still not been fully resolved.

Rodolfo Orozco does appear to be the right challenge for Benn at this stage, who will be dealing with ring rust given he has not fought since April 2022.

The fight card set for September 23rd further features the main event between American prospect/contender Richardson Hitchins (16-0, 7 KO’s) and American former world title challenger Jose Zepeda (37-3, 28 KO’s). The co-main event will see Britain’s WBO welterweight champion Sandy Ryan (6-1, 2 KO’s) battle it out in a unification match with America’s WBA & WBC welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill (12-3, 5 KO’s).
