Jack Catterall has suffered an injury during training, resulting in the postponement of his August 24th match against Regis Prograis. The bout, initially scheduled at the Co-Op Arena in Manchester, will now reportedly be rescheduled for October, according to reports.

British super lightweight (140 lbs) contender Jack Catterall (28-1, 13 KO’s) had been preparing for his non-title bout against American contender Regis Prograis (28-1, 24 KO’s). However, due to the injury, Catterall will now have to wait until he is fully recovered to resume training. Matchroom, the promoter for both fighters, announced the news of Catterall’s injury and the postponement of the event.

“Our August 24th event at Co-op Live in Manchester is canceled due to an injury sustained by Jack Catterall. Further details will follow in due course. Ticket refunds are available from your point of purchase.”

ESPN further suggested the match would be rescheduled for October, giving both fighters ample time to prepare. As Prograis noted, the extra time might be beneficial, especially as he is coming off a one-sided loss to Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s) last December.

“This just leaves me more time to get stronger and better. Back to the weight room.”

Regis Prograis

Notably, both fighters would be heading into their August 24th match in vastly different forms. Jack Catterall is currently on a three-match winning streak since losing a controversial bout to Josh Taylor (19-2, 13 KO’s) in 2022. Catterall avenged this defeat, defeating the Scottish fighter in their rematch on May 25th this year.

Prograis, on the other hand, is in a more uncertain position. Not only is he coming off a loss to Haney, but his split-decision (SD) win over the relatively unknown Puerto Rican contender Danielito Zorilla (18-2, 14 KO’s) did not bolster his standing. While a tune-up fight might have been ideal before facing Catterall, Prograis’s willingness to face a top contender demonstrates commendable determination and bravery.
