Multi-division Mexican champion Canelo Alvarez has reportedly signed a three-fight deal with American-based boxing promotion/network Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). Alvarez, 32, had previously fought under the DAZN/Matchroom banner since 2018 in a five-year deal worth $356 million. Canelo Alvarez’ deal with the PBC is estimated to be worth $100million.

Canelo Alvarez (59-2-2, 39 KO’s) had previously been linked with facing Dmitry Bivol (21-0, 11 KO’s) following his points victory over John Ryder (32-6, 18 KO’s), but the Mexican undisputed Super Middleweight champion failed to reach a deal with the Russian fighter due to a variety of reasons, but mostly because of Alvarez’ unwillingness to fight Bivol at 168 lbs, and the WBC refusing to endorse a match between the two due to the geopolitical conflict of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Now signed to the PBC for three fights, Canelo Alvarez is speculated to be fighting in September against WBC Middleweight champion Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KO’s). If their fight is finalized, the two will be involved in a bout that had been years in the making since Alvarez had been a world champion at 160 lbs from 2015 to 2018. The two had been linked to one another for a potential unification fight but a match never ensued.

If the rumors are true, Jermall Charlo would have to move up in weight to fight Alvarez, though he would likely fight for all of Canelo Alvarez’ titles. Alternatively, the fight can also take place at Middleweight where Charlo would have to defend his WBC Middleweight title in that case.

Aside from facing Charlo, there are also plenty of indicators that Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22 KO’s) and David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KO’s), who are both signed to the PBC, might be included in that 3-fight deal. The latter has noticeably called out Alvarez multiple times due to being the WBC interim Super Middleweight champion, and a match between the two has been widely expected to occur since Canelo Alvarez first won the WBA ‘Regular’ title at 168 lbs off of Rocky Fielding (30-3, 18 KO’s).

A fight with Spence is not unfeasible but is heavily dependent on the rematch clause that is set for his bout contract with Terence Crawford (39-0, 30 KO’s). Regardless of who comes out the winner between the two on July 29th in their undisputed Welterweight bout, the option of a rematch clause for the losing fighter lays doubts on whether Canelo Alvarez might face Errol Spence Jr.

Lastly, there are other opponents that might be considered suitable candidates. Jermell Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KO’s), the twin brother of Jermall Charlo and the current undisputed Super Welterweight champion, has also called out Alvarez and furthermore there is a potential rematch that can occur with Caleb Plant (22-2, 13 KO’s) who lost his IBF title to Canelo Alvarez in 2018 in their undisputed Super Middleweight contest.
