Background
Lenier Peró was a highly-rated amateur, notably managing to win the Pan American Games’ boxing tournament twice, and the Youth Olympics and Youth World Championships once. He was also successful in Cuba’s national boxing tournaments for amateurs where he managed to fully win at least thrice, and the World Series of Boxing.
He had approximately around 120 fights as an amateur, losing only twenty times. He notably faced future heavyweight contenders in Frank Sánchez and Filip Hrgović, managing to beat the former five times.
Accomplishments
Lenier Peró made his pro debut on May 29th in 2019. While he did manage to win the WBA Fedelatin heavyweight title, Peró’s competition has been far from stellar given most of his opposition barely had or simply didn’t have a double-digit number of fights.
In 2023 however, he faced a fellow unbeaten prospect in Victor Vykhryst and managed to beat the Ukrainian by stoppage, earning him much praise for his performance and victory after his demolishment over a credible opponent.
Boxing Style
Lenier Peró is a Southpaw that has developed the technical Cuban style of boxing like the rest of his fighting countrymen. He is relatively hard to hit due to his movement and seems to be improving in power judging by his most recent victories.
