Accomplishments

Martin Bakole built up an impressive résumé as a professional, going unbeaten for four years after making his debut in 2014 before facing a highly-rated boxer in Michael Hunter. In their showcase fight on October 13 in 2018, Bakole was unfortunately stopped in the 10th round – which was also the last round of their fight.

Following his loss, he fought several heavyweight veterans and managed to impress by stopping the likes of Mariusz Wach and Kevin Johnson.

On the 14th of May in 2022, Bakole faced Frenchman Tony Yoka – former Olympic gold medalist – at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. Despite being the underdog in their fight, he managed to triumph over Yoka through a majority decision win.

In 2023, Bakole netted his first win of the year with a stoppage victory over Polish opponent Ihor Shevadzutskyi.

Continuing on from there, Bakole again fought in 2023 on October 28th where he fought Carlos Takam. Bakole went on to win by stoppage in the fourth-round against the 42-year old French veteran

Boxing Style

martin bakole boxing style

Martin Bakole’s lack of amateur experience was reflected early on in his professional career where – despite his unbeaten streak – he showed glimpses of vulnerability through his defense. He relied more on his power and size for most of his career, but in his bout versus Tony Yoka he showed an improvement in the fundamentals of boxing, surprising his opponent with his improved stamina, jab and work ethic in the ring to eventually win their bout.

The fights he had as a professional also helped to sharpen his skills, and he has become a much more well-rounded boxer over the course of his six years in the professional ranks, though he still often favors overwhelming his opponent with his size and power.
