Background

As an amateur, Rocky Fielding won two national championships as a junior in 2005. Fielding reached the final of the ABA in 2007 and 2008 before losing – thus culminating in him winning silver. In the same year, he competed in other national tournaments but was overcome by the same opponent; Lawrence Osueke. Fielding turned professional in 2010.

Accomplishments

After making his debut, Rocky Fielding first made his name fighting at the Prizefighter series (for Super Middleweights) in 2011 where he stopped every opponent he faced on course to the final match. Though the series did not immediately make him noticeable on the international scene, his dominant winning streak in the competition affirmed him as one of the best British prospects at 168 lbs.

As his unbeaten winning streak continued, he compemented his winning record with several titles including the English title, the Commonwealth title, the WBA Inter-Continental title and the WBC International title.

In 2015, he faced his biggest challenge yet in British prospect Callum Smith for the WBC Silver and British Super Middleweight titles. Fielding proved to not be in the best form on that day after suffering a first-round stoppage loss.

Following his disappointment facing Smith, Fielding returned in 2016 where he immediately found success by winning the WBC International title again when he beat Christopher Rebrasse on his return.

In 2017 he also fought for the British title again against future WBO interim world champion, John Ryder, who FIelding would narrowly beat by split decision.

In 2018, he won the WBA (Regular) title in a dominant TKO victory over Tyron Zeuge. A match with decorated Mexican multi-weight world champion Saul Alvarez followed shortly in December of that year.

Rocky Fielding suffered the second loss of his career when Canelo Alvarez stopped him early in the third round. Fielding stepped in the ring again shy of a year later in 2019 where he would on to hold a three match winning run where he stopped all of his opponents at Light-Heavyweight.

In 2022, Fielding was matched with British Light-Heavyweight Dan Azeez who handed Fielding his third career loss by knockout or stoppage.

Boxing Style

rocky fielding boxing style

Rocky Fielding tends to fight on the outside, and is often comfortable with fighting on the back foot as a result. He is a very good jabber and uses his feet decently, though not well enough to escape punishment if the opponent presses forward.

He can fight on the inside, but has been outmatched on occasion by opponents who seemed more determined. Despite his faults, Fielding has displayed toughness and power on multiple occasions.
